Will it be one night or more that I’m disappeared? Sometimes people are held to ransom for years before they’re finally killed. Oh Christ. Adrenalin gushes into my body and fear crushes my chest preventing the smallest gasps of air from entering. Breathe just breathe that’s all that matters. I’m trying to recall my training but my mind is a fireball.

  After jostling with stairs and doors, I’m tossed, not as roughly as I’d expected into a vehicle. The slamming of two, three doors and firing ignition. We’re driving away to fuck knows where? Who is it taking me?

  I guess it hardly matters. There are so many gangs and desperadoes in Europe and beyond, not to mention the mafia here in Italy. The daughter of a prominent government official is the perfect target to garner publicity for any cause. Or it could be purely about the money. If I’d wondered whether my father cared enough to send out a ransom for my return, I guess I’m about to find out now.
